Published: November 16, 2010
Nine West identified 3 themes for its Spring fashion line: New Military, Living Color, and Under the Sea and came to Talenthouse in search of designs to put into production.
They asked designers to submit their ideas on how these themes could be represented on their products and three winners were chosen! Woo hoo!
Fabiane Russell is a designer from Indiana who also participated in our Florence + the Machine Invite.
Gale Gibbs is a designer from Rockwall, Texas.
Me Matee is a designer from Germany who participated in our Florence + the Machine Invite as well.
As the chosen designers for this Invite, they will share a $7500 cash prize and have their designs put into production. These products will be sold on www.ninewest.com and at select retail stores. The winning designs will also be showcased on Facebook.
Congratulations to the three winning designers and thank you to all for sharing your amazing artwork with us!
Press Release by Talenthouse

Gale Gibbs, an artist living in Rockwall, shared some details regarding her design chosen by Nine West:
“Occasionally I see work in design areas that I feel something I have done will fit in. A few years back I decided to stop making my usual work for one year and to follow a love of mine which was music. I particularly loved one piece by Rachmaninov, Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini.”
Gale spent one year on the computer and in painted images, she listened to that one piece and with line, shape and color created over 300 images. The artist later went back to her regular body of work, but stored these images and kept them.
“I loved the piece and the work but had no idea what to do with it. A few months back, I noticed this contest which I felt this work would be lyrical enough to be a good fit and so I entered the contest. That is how I came to win the contest. Sometimes, you make art and then you wait and hopefully someday it all fits.”
