Baton Rouge Gallery's Third Annual Surreal Salon to Feature Contemporary Work from Across the Country in January
The Third Annual Surreal Salon will run from Jan. 4-27, 2011 at Baton Rouge Gallery, 1515 Dalrymple Drive. This exciting exhibition will feature the work of contemporary artists from across the country, engaging audiences in a multi-sensory art experience and shedding light on the growing popularity and exceptional quality of contemporary surrealism and the pop-surrealist movement. The Third Annual Surreal Salon, which can only be seen at BRG, celebrates the many reasons why this irreverent and exciting movement has come to the forefront of contemporary art in recent years.
The Surreal Salon will feature the works of 27 artists from 11 different states. The work on display will run the gamut from video to sculpture, from photography to paintings.
More than 125 works were submitted from across the nation for consideration by the exhibition's juror. Baton Rouge Gallery is proud to announce the roster of artists selected to participate in the Third Annual Surreal Salon, as chosen by the exhibition's juror, Chris Ryniak:

Baton Rouge Gallery's Third Annual Surreal Salon will be punctuated by a one-night celebration of the exhibition Saturday, Jan. 22 from 6-10 p.m. Titled the Surreal Salon Soirée, this evening of art, exciting live music and costumed attendees will surely be unlike any the arts community in our area has seen since last year's affair.
All are invited to wear their "most surreal" attire to view and celebrate the work included in the Surreal Salon (and hear the announcement of this year's winners and the awarding of more than $2,000 in prize monies) while enjoying live musical performances from the internationally-acclaimed Quintron & Miss Pussycat and DJ OttO. The evening will also include surrealist games, a performance from the fire performance troupe, Jebediah Goodstuff's Pyromaniacal Olde-Thyme Travelling Sideshow and much more. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance or at the door.
